Why hire a crane and operator when Ya can make yer own; The Tarheel Crane in operation setting the center Ridge Pole Support logs. Was all set to hire a crane or boom truck to get the center R.P.S.L.’s set into place and then my neighbor Tommy told me to let him figure it out… Tommy chained a log to his loader and we made our own crane!! :-)

NOTE: We drove rebar 2′ On Center in every course and in every log… NOT a good idea if you already have your window and door placement already pre-planned!! We went through 3 chainsaw chains cutting out the windows and doors by nicking a piece of rebar in the way. All rebar does not drive straight… some may hit a knot or some other thing in your log and turn. Take the time and plan out your windows and doors and leave the rebar out there.
